Market Day at BeeWeaver

Navasota, Texas - We placed our order for bees and hives with BeeWeaver, located in Navasota (www.beeweaver.com) about an hour's drive northwest of Houston.   The BeeWeaver breed is a hybrid of the Italian & Buckfast breeds.  Instead of ordering packaged bees, each weighing 3 pounds and containing 10,000 bees (which amazingly enough, the postman will deliver to the front door with our regular mail), we have ordered nucs.  Nucs are much easier to install.  Our plan is to initially place 4 deep hives on Doug and Linda's property in Caldwell, and hope that the broods grow quickly enough to add another deep hive to each within just a few weeks.   Our hives will be ready for pick up on April 18 and our bees will be ready for pick up on April 29.

Yesterday, the first day of spring, was Market Day at BeeWeaver in Navasota.  Mark and I were so excited to visit the place where our bees were "born" and our hives were built!  Laura Weaver was so sweet to take 2 hours of her day at Market Day to answer our many questions about beekeeping.
